Karnataka ulemas appeal to community to protest peacefully against hate speech

Bengaluru, Nov 5 (IANS): The Karnataka Muslim Ulemas (clerics) forum on Wednesday appealed to the community in general and the youth in particular to not go overboard while protesting against the objectionable cartoons in France.

The ulemas appealed for peaceful protests and stressed that these protests should be well within the boundaries of the country's laws that one lives in.

Condemning the cartoons, the Ulemas termed these cartoons as nothing but a hate speech and not part of freedom of speech.

"Freedom of speech by any country's constitution's standard can not allow others to hurt someone's feelings or religious sentiments. Therefore, the cartoons are equally deplorable as the killings in France," they added.

"Quran does not validate protests in a violent manner that has happened in France. It is a heinous crime even in the Quran. Therefore, do not indulge in any act that will bring disrepute to the community as a whole," the ulemas told a press conference.

They further added that the community should try and resolve matters in an amicable manner instead of promoting hate from either side.

Moulana Mohammed Maqsood Imran Rashadi said, "What has happened in France is grossly condemnable. Both acts cannot be justified. In the guise of freedom of speech, they shouldn't have hurt the community's feelings, same way the guiding book of Islam does not permit killings to prevent such acts. Therefore, we appeal to our community members and the youth not to go overboard while protesting against the cartoons published in France."

"Therefore, the cartoons are equally deplorable as the killings in France,"

It is shocking that these clerics have equated( Equally deplorable? Really?) the beheadings of elderly christian women in church to cartoons. It is hard to believe this is being said in South India and not Saudi Arabia. If these clerics are supposed to be the reasonable ones urging restraint can you imagine what their followers ( Indian citizens?) are capable of. As a person whose parents came from Mangalore(during my last visit it was sad to see all the burkas, and call to prayer on loudspeakers in the age of cell phones ) , I hope India can one day stand up to this religion as President Macron has hopefully just begun to do. How can these backward people dictate terms to France, an economic and cultural superpower followed by all the civilized world. Viva la France!!!

Peacefull locals who have been living their for decades are shifting elsewhere . Rioting , arson, beheading , bombing was never heard off in the west. It all started once these people got in pleading for asylum.

Why do people get into violent protest for things happened in a foreign land ???
When religious sentiment is hurt, need to condemn it rather than showing the anger on the streets ....

They want to milk the Govt welfare systems dry and then abuse the same Govt . The same thing happens in India as well. They uitilize every Bhagaya, every scheme ,every special status, and then cry foul that Govt is doing nothing for us.

The Cardinal rule, for migration to any alien land is " Assimilation, with the host culture " These powerful nations, are gracious to welcome individuals and families, from ravaged Islamic nations, provide them with foothold, to begin a new free life !!! The real intention of these new recruits are to overwhelm the host nation, with their
medieval, ideology !!! They carry their ugly baggage with them and try to enforce their beliefs and practices, in their new found abodes !!! They prefer to live in their own ghettoized community, demand the same set of laws, which turned them into beasts !!! The world has finally woken up from their slumber... The backlash will be imminent, as a massive crackdown will be carried out to weed out threats from their society !!!

The entire world was aghast at the sight of " Beheadings " which was carried out, by Islamist radicals, in Europe... These may be condoned in some nations, but definitely, such barbaric behavior, is unacceptable in any modern civilization !!!!

As we seen in the past like CAA and Delihi riots, here alo anti social elements may take this opportinity to turn peaceful protest into violent in order to gain political mileage that too when Bhilar polling is under progress.

This is the right way to protest peacefully. Need to protest even when our own people done any wrong.
Liked the way Nasiruddin Shah and others condemned the issue. Have to grow above the religion for the peace around the world.
