Udupi, Nov 17: "It is really sad to note that an amazingly versatile poet like Mookambika Aithal (popularly known as Mookajji), who lived during the 20th century composed hundreds of poems on a variety of socially relevant themes despite her illiteracy, did not get the recognition she actually deserved. Now that a book has come in English on her total achievements, we may hope that she will be duly noted on the global map," said Anand Kundar, releasing Dr Parvathi G Aithal's book 'The Song Bird of Ulloor Mookambika Aithal' at Shivaram Karanth Theme Park at Kota of Udupi district.
Dr Arunkumar Shetty presided over the function. Poornima formally welcomed the gathering. Dr Parvathi G Aithal gave a brief introduction, explaining the events which led her to write the book. Ashwini Aithal spoke on the occasion.
After the presidential address, Shyla S Poojari rendered the vote of thanks. Narendrakumar Kota compered the programme.
