Kundapur, Nov 25: In a case of sexually harassing a PU student, judge in the special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) cases, Yadav Vanamala Anand Rao, found the accused guilty of the charges. The judge said that the quantum of sentence will be announced on November 30.
The person accused in the case happens to be Guru alias Gururaj. He was facing the charge of sexually harassing a 16-year-old PU student when working on a bus within the limits of Brahmavar police circle inspector's office in 2014. The student was going to college when she faced harassment at the hands of the said cleaner.
Brahmavar police circle inspector, Arun Nayak, who conducted investigation based on the student's complaint had filed charge sheet against the accused. 21 witnesses had been named in the case of which 11 adduced evidence. Taking into account the evidences including witnesses and the victim the court held that the accused has been found guilty.
The hearing of the case was initially held at the district additional and sessions court at Kundapur. Public prosecutor Prakashchandra Shetty had appeared on behalf of the prosecution. The case thereafter was transferred to the district POCSO court where special public prosecutor Y T Raghavendra argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
