Mangaluru, Nov 28: Former MLA Mohiuddin Bawa alleged that the people in the Scheduled Caste colonies in Surathkal have lost the access to the source of drinking water due to leakage from drains.
He was speaking in the protests held by block Congress in Kana Katla urging to repair the drains on Saturday.
"The stench from the drainage water has forced people to wear two masks. Officials are reluctant on taking action over complaints. Development has become stagnant since the MLA was elected from the BJP party. It is difficult to walk about on Kana Bala road due to potholes," the former MLA said.
He alleged that the government was lethargic in carrying out any progressive and developmental works and demanded to intensify works on various projects. “Rs 52 crore worth four lane work has not started yet. The projects started during my term are not completed. There should be no politics in development works,” he said.
Surathkal block Congress president K Sadashiva Shetty, vice president Govardhan Shettigar, Bashir Baikampady, corporator Anil Kumar, Anand Ameen, Surathkal ladies Congress president, Hidayat Abdul Jaleel, Raja Katla and others were present.
