Bagalkot: BJP MLA accused of causing abortion - Lady's husband clarifies

Daijiworld Media Network - Bagalkot (SP)

Bagalkot, Dec 4: Karnataka state Mahila Congress and other women's organisations had demanded action against the BJP MLA, Siddu Savadi, and sought compensation of five crore rupees from the government, holding the MLA responsible for the abortion suffered by Chandni Naik, municipal councillor of Mahalingapura municipality in the district. Savadi reportedly had accused the councillor of siding with the Congress after accepting money and pushed her.

Now Nagesh Naik, husband of Chandni, has clarified that he believes that the abortion of his wife was caused by other reasons. He said he does not blame anyone, and that the abortion of his wife does not have anything to do with the jostling of his wife at a meeting at Mahalingapoura and also the local MLA, Siddu Savadi.

In a press statement, Naik said that when the election to the posts of the president and vice president of the municipality was held, his wife was two months pregnant. "We are guilty of overlooking the need to get her checked. After 16 days, on November 25, we got her checked and abortion happened. During the last seven years, my wife has gone through similar experience twice or thrice. Initially, I had wrongly felt that the pushing at the said meeting would have caused the abortion. I do not want to use this incident to reap the political benefit. Some have taken to the street because of misconception, which is unnecessary," he stated.
