Gang of honey-trappers, blackmailers busted in Lucknow


Lucknow, Dec 11 (IANS): The Lucknow police have busted a gang of honey-trappers and blackmailers who kidnapped and blackmailed a doctor for ransom by using a honey trap.

The doctor, a dentist, was trapped by the gang which tried to extort money from him and even threatened to kill him.

Sachin Rawat, 20, of Unnao and Neeshu ,19, of Delhi have been arrested but other members of the gang including Adil, Balram Verma, Pravesh Jaiswal, Nazar Abbas and Sana are absconding.

The doctor was called on a medical visit to a flat in Sushant Golf City where he was sedated and filmed him in a compromising position with Sana who then started blackmailing him.

The doctor was held hostage in the flat and beaten when he refused to divulge his ATM PIN.

ADCP, east, SM Qasim Abidi, said: "The accused also demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom from him, threatening to make the clip viral. They even threatened to kill the victim's children if he sought police help."

The doctor's friend helped him reach the police on the pretext of arranging for money. However, when a police team reached the spot, the kidnappers had fled and the doctor was rescued.

Joint commissioner of police, crime, Nilabja Chaudhury, said that a cash reward of Rs 15,000 each has been announced on the absconders.
