Mangaluru: KCA Christmas Bazaar, an example of community participation to beat Covid

Media Release

Mangaluru, Dec 12: The KCA Christmas Bazaar was held on December 12 at the Konkan Samudhai Bhavan to not only great acclaim, but also with resounding success. With Covid playing spoilsport for the festive Christmas season which everyone looks forward to, the bold decision by the KCA committee with full support of its president, Hilma Roach to hold the KCA Christmas Bazaar paid handsome dividends in terms of praise and business success for participants and visitors alike, a heartening scenario which brought great cheer to all in these turbulent times.

The enthusiasm seen in the event is a great example to us that in times of turmoil, it is the human spirit that endures. There were over 35 stalls which were setup by home and regular entrepreneurs. The range of products on offer were exciting from amazing glassware, Christmas decorations, leather garments, bedsheets, handicrafts, religious books, honey, chocolates, cakes, pickles, and cookies. There was even a stall that offered cream liqueur, which many swore was better than Baileys cream liqueur, truly a testament to the improvement Covid has made to everyones home cooking skills! The food stalls were also amazing, and though the Konkan and Mangalurean restaurants offered great cuisines for the palette, the home cooks were up to par and beyond with a range of dishes that were impressive in taste and choice. In fact, so good were the choices from succulent delicacies to mouth watering chocolate truffles and cup cakes, that we wondered if Covid was perhaps not such a bad thing to ensure such talent being brought to the fore.

The Christmas Bazaar saw around 300 people in its premises at various intervals, with the most visitors arriving during the afternoon. The entertainment was divine, with a great performance by Fabian and his group who played melodious songs to further enhance the atmosphere of Christmas cheer. The highlight of the evening was the Christmas carols sung by the KCA Carol Group to the rapt attention of the audience who enjoyed the excellent renditions of various Christmas songs. The Santa who appeared during the carol singing was the favourite of the kids, both small and big, to whom he gave Christmas gifts sans discrimination! In typical KCA fashion, a few solo numbers were sung by the very talented singers, Shanaya D’Silva, BA first year student, and Daniella Rebello, a 10th standard student who garnered enormous appreciation from the audience for their flair and aptitude with many taking them as sterling examples who will bring kudos to the community

All in all, the KCA Christmas bazaar was a resounding success with credit to the KCA committee in general and KCA vice president Roshan Menezes in particular who took great pain and efforts to ensure that the event was a success and the community was well served in a season of good cheer.
