Mangalore: Air India Strives to Reach Compensation to Victims’ Families

Mangalore, May 30: Air India held a press conference at Hotel Gateway on Saturday May 29 where Harpreeth De Singh, general manager, quality management sources (QMS), Air India Express, Abby John, PRO, Mangalore, Group Captain Sudir Amin, assistant general manager, quality management sources (QMS), Andie D’Souza, chief operating officer, Air India Express, and Challen Prasad, station manager, Air India, Mangalore, were present at the meet.
Singh, addressing the reporters, said that Air India has gone out of its way to settle the final payment to the families of victims of last week’s air crash. She added that though most of the baggage had been destroyed in the fire, whatever had been recovered would be handed over to the victims’ families.
Singh also thanked the people of Kenjar and Maravoor, local government bodies, police, firemen, ministries of Karnataka and Kerala, and press and media persons who extended support in solving the problems that arose in the wake of the disastrous event.
Insurance companies like Reliance which are associated with Air India have not yet given compensation to families of victims, so Air India has acted to meet the financial crisis. Mulla and Mulla will be in the city on Thursday June 3 and Friday June 4 to solve the litigation of financing matters for the air crash victims.
Sixteen families from Kerala have received cheques from Air India. A total of 28 families have been compensated so far and Rs 2.24 crore has been released for compensation and the compensation process is still going on.
