Kundapur: Car Mangled Between Lorries on NH at Trasi – Two Killed on Spot

Kundapur, May 30: An unfortunate accident at National Highway 17 in Mullikatte near Trasi here on Saturday May 30 late night between a car and two lorries claimed the life of two and injured three others.

The deceased have been identified as local advocate Rajpal Shetty (36) and his wife’s maternal uncle Ulloor Balakrishna Shetty (55). Rajpal Shetty was driving the car, while Balakrishna Shetty, newly married couple, Veerendra Hegde and Prathima as well as Devaki Shetty were in the car on its way to Maratoor from Nada. The couple along with the other three was on the way to attend their wedding reception. The car was mangled between two lorries that came from opposite directions and fell into a near by ditch.

Rajpal is survived by wife and daughter Swathi (4). The body of the deceased have been kept at the Kundapur mortuary.

The traffic was blocked at the national highway for a while after the accident. Locals helped the injured by transporting them to the nearby hospital. Gangolli and Kundapaur police visited the spot and took control of the situation. A case in this regard has been registered at the Gangolli police station.
