Mangaluru: Car towing incident - Police register two cases

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Dec 26: Two days after a seven-year-old boy was towed by the traffic police while he was inside the car, the traffic police retrieved evidence through CCTV footage that car was parked on the footpath and in this regard police have registered two cases.

It may be recalled that on Thursday evening, a lady from Mijar had come to Mallikatta in the city in her car along with the driver and two children. Her car was parked by the side of a residential complex there, after which she went to a shop nearby along with one of her sons. The driver and the seven-year-old boy were inside the car. The driver noticed that the lady had left behind her mobile phone inside the car and so he went to hand it over to her. Meanwhile, traffic police who came to spot, towed the vehicle away.

Before towing the vehicle, police had videographed the car. In the video, it is evident that windows of the car were tinted and it was locked, thus, police could not notice the boy inside the car. Later, the car was moved to Kadri East Traffic Police Station. Then the police saw boy inside the car.

It is said that MLA Vedavyasa Kamath gathered information about the incident. MLA suggested that police before towing any vehicles should take certain precautionary measures.

The woman had argued that she had not parked her car on the footpath, but the police have registered cases after gathering video footage and photos.

Police booked two cases for parking the car on footpath and using tint for window glasses.

    People,

We need self driving cars like TESLA or 'Bori Gadi / Bullock Cart' which moves like self driving car....without driver it will go straight home...in this case Mijar , Moodabidri ....

Forget about towing Bullock Cart....If Traffic Police come near the Cart Bulls will charge at Policeman by his horns or beat him with its tail....This is my experience people not opinion....

People stop ridiculing 'Bullock Carts' .....

    ...Tak...Takk...

There are so many places were four wheeler drivers park their vechiles on the footpath dening pedestrians from using the footpath, in turn pedestrians are forced to use the footpath risking their lives. The traffic police should be strict when vechiles are parked on the footpath. Instead of towing they should lock the vechiles so that others learn from it, and not fall prey next time.

Authorities are always right as long as courts decide the case.
People are victims of their own design or of the circumstances.
Let the outlets provide parking facilities first, if they or the owners of the building don't then cancel their licenses is best solution, does the authorities dare take this step?

Most important point is, we are short of parking spaces! Few multi-storey car parks with reasonable price are need of the hour.

Actually there should be 4 cases:
    1 Parking on footpath
    2 Telling lies to police
    3.Tinted glasses
4 Most important leaving child in the car.
    Photographic evidence tells the truth.
    Citizens should follow discipline.

Instead of argueing with the traffic police that woman should have confessed that she was wrong that her parked on the sidewalk and also her car was tinted which is against law. Now she has to face two cases.

What a negligent parent. Atleast thank God your child is OK and stop trying to prove your innocent. It's a clear picture showing that you are parked on the sidewalk. Being a parent I feel you should be more responsible. You could have opened the window a little bit atleast. What if something bad would have happened to the child we all know how the weather in mangalore these days are sitting in a closed car with windows shut and ac off is near to impossible. That child who sat inside is a fighter

Mr Kamath mangalore, all these fiasco could have avoided by driver by not leaving behind small child inside the car all alone ,but taking with him.All are negligent..towards child.what if child would fall unconscious inside due to hot temp.or walk out ?yes ca r was locked .Many children tend to play with car when noone is there, loosen the handbrake and turn and twist what available. How many times we hear car rolled on hit somewhere and child was either died or got injured. One should have four eyes when a child is in car left alone.

Mobile phones are more important than kids. How can the driver think that it was important to give the mobile phone and leave the kid locked in a car without switching on the AC. Police should file another case of negligence of keeping the child inside the car.

they should put two more cases:-

    1. putting child at risk
    2. causing obstacles to govt. servant in discharge of duty... placing the child inside the car is ploy to prevent police from towing the car.

What a negligence act by a mother... how can she leave a kid in a car and go shopping.... when there are so many cases were due to suffocation or some bad incidents kids have lost their lives... please parents either leave kids at home if anyone is there to take care or take your kid along with you when you go shopping...

Yes true... Even the driver was negligent... Why he had to leave the boy in the car alone and went to give mobile to the lady? Lady could have waited for few minutes without the mobile... After handing over the mobile he could have come back immediately to the car where it was parked... No sense of responsibility for both. Even lady could have asked the driver to go back after taking the mobile. Why to argue after committing the mistakes???

Madam, driver leaving the car for giving mobile to mother and police towing away in the meanwhile is story..

there are many story writers and story tellers nowadays....

The lady has left the boy in the car as shield against car being towed away... and driver has accompanied the mother to the mall/shop for holding the shopping bags...
