Tumakuru: Three dead as truck plows into stationary vehicle in Sira

Tumakuru, Dec 27: A truck that came from the rear side of another truck that had developed problems and was stopped by the roadside, plowed into the stationary truck during the wee hours of Sunday December 27. As a result, at least three persons lost their lives.

The accident happened at Gandhinagar cross within the limits of Kallambella police station in Sira taluk. Three persons including the drivers of both the trucks died in the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Srinivas (35), driver of the stranded truck, his assistant, Mahesh (38) and Ningaraju (40), driver of the truck that hit the other one from behind.

The Eicher truck was taking a harvester machine from Hospet to Tamil Nadu when one of its tyres went flat at around 1.30 am on Sunday. The driver was changing the tyre when a lorry carrying eggs from Hospet to Bengaluru hit the truck, it is said. All the three died on the spot due to the gravity of the accident.

Srinivas was a resident of Ranebennur. Cleaner, Mahesh, was from Harihar, it is gathered.

After the accident, vehicular traffic on the highway was thrown out of gear. After the information reached them, Kallambmella sub-inspector,
Avinsah and other staff went to the accident spot and arranged for smooth movement of vehicles.

Sira rural deputy superintendent of police Kumarappa, circle inspector, Ravikmar, anb others visited the spot.
