Bahrain: Konkani Kutam Decennial Celebrations Conclude with Cultural Show

Bahrain, June 5: A packed audience of more than 1,000 Konkani lovers enjoyed the excellent evening of Konkani culture show organized as part of concluding ceremony of Konkani Kutam decennial celebrations at Bishop Tirinanzi auditorium, next to Sacred Heart Church, recently.
The show began with a welcome song followed by the stage programme. The ambassador of India to Bahrain Dr George Joseph was the chief guest. Assistant parish priest Fr Vincent D’Souza, two prominent personalities from Mangalore, Titus Noronha and Roy Castelino were the guests of honour.
The star performers of the evening “Yodeling King” Melwyn Peres, Rony D’Cunha and Anitha Samson enthralled the audience with magnificent tunes. They were ably supported by local talent, Sydney Correa, Richard Pais, Rony Fernandes, Muriel Gomes, Laveena Dantis and Cynthia D’Souza. The winners of Konkani Kutam singing competition for children, Adlin Alva, Hanna Miranda and Melissa Martis showed their talents by singing “Mogachi Laaram”.
Music maestro Joel Pereira enhanced the charm of music endorsing his stature. Jerry Rasquinha was at his best by impressively exhibiting his unique style of comedy accompanied by talented local actors Stany D’Souza, George Menezes and Charles D’Mello.
“GONGO” comedy drama written by CJS Taccode was staged with participation of local actors Stany D’Souza, Sujay Pinto, Edward Almedia, Nelson Menezes, Charles D’Mello and Alwyn Alva. There were four delightful dances by the children.
The renowned master of ceremony, Ronald Olivera compered the programme. The convenor of Konkani Kutam, Richard Moras welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the achievements of Konkani Kutam for the last 10 years through promotion of Konkani language and culture.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the ambassador of India along with working committee members Richard Moras, Henry Almeida, John Mascarenhas and Ronald Fernandes, guests of Honour Fr Vincent D’Souza, Titus Noronha and Roy Castelino.
The ambassador honoured Melwyn Peres, Titus Noronha and Roy Castelino. Anitha Samson, Jerry Rasquina, Joel Pereira, Rony D’Cunha, Ronald Olivera, Sydeny Correa and Shankar Jattanna too were honoured.
“Harmonics” provided the music. It was a memorable event befitting the occasion of decennial celebrations.
