The great honour will be conferred posthumously to the late Wilfy Rebimbus titled ‘PRO Ecclesia Et Pontifice.’ This is the highest honour a layman can get from Pope in the entire Christian community worldwide.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore diocese will present the title at Milagres Church here on the feast of St Anthony on Sunday June 13 during the festal Holy Eucharistic celebration at 6.00 pm, to Meena Rebimbus, wife of the late Konkani legendary singer Wilfy Rebimbus, who enthralled the Konkans for five decades.
Sources close to Daijiworld.com confirmed that, the honour was conferred on Wilfy Rebimbus through the letter by Pope on Jan 25, 2010, incidentally the 40th wedding anniversary of Wilfy and Meena. But unfortunately it only reached Bishop's house after the great man’s demise.
