Mangaluru, Jan 8: Former MLA J R Lobo alleged that Swachh Bharat Mission in the city has turned inoperative in comparison to the last few years.

Addressing media here on Friday January 8, J R Lobo said, “Mangaluru was once known for its cleanliness and was conferred with several awards in the past. Today, the situation of Mangaluru has turned worse in terms of cleanliness. We can notice that waste is being thrown in every nook and corner of the city, no proper waste disposal method is being implemented, and also, waste is not being collected on regular basis. Mangaluru was in the forefront in cleanliness which is not the case now.

“The waste collectors are on protest. Careless waste disposal methods has led to stray dog menace making the issue even worse. We never witnessed such a worse situation earlier. During the Congress government, there were certain issues which were sorted out immediately, but never reached this worse.

“Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) claims that there is no money in the treasury. There are over one lac households in the city. On an average, there should be Rs 5 crore of cess collection. If not, then it is the failure of the administration,” he said.

Corporator Shashidhar Hegde, MCC opposition leader Abdul Rauf and others were present.

Please don't disturb MCC. They are very hard working to change street names. They strongly believe name changing is automatically clean Mangaluru.

Houses and apartment complexes are generally kept clean so it is civic sense/ responsibility..
Beyond the boundaries not our responsibility is the motto ..
But eventually like the world is round (garbage ) comes back !
With technology.. cameras .. it should be easier and possibly what is lacking is the will —
if heavy fines .. initially after warning possibly is one solution..

I request the MCC Commissioner and D.C,, and J.R. Lobo to look in to Karangalpady New Cross Road / C.G. Kamath Road rain water moving small canal to be free of drainage water disposal by the hoteliers. These hoteliers are bribing MCC officials and MCC Corporators.

There are showing complexes near Shedi Gudda market, they did not keep parking facilities and as a result so many vehicles are parked on both the sides of the road.

The road is also in bad shape not asphalted for several years.
Dear respected J R Lobo sir kindly take this matter to Corporation Commissioner and the D.K district Collector/D.C.
    Thank you.

The original inhabitants, who were self conscious, about keeping the environment clean, are rapidly getting marginalized, due to the heavy influx, from outside regions. This has eventually led to this ugly state of unhygienic conditions, in an around this vibrant city !!!

    Silent Increase in Electricity Tariff
    Cleanliness/Waste Management/Useless Drainage system(Gift from Congress)
Unplanned /lack of minimal planning and lack of appropriate traffic sign boards..
Non Potable Water supply (Gift from congress)
Corrupt officials at RTO,MCC -(Gift from Congress ..continued under BJP rule)

    -Advice
Please place appropriate traffic sign boards ..Let Driving schools train the new drivers appropriately not just steering control ..but about lane discipline ,signbaords, right of way etc.
Cleanliness is a peoples attitude ..But MCC has to see that the City roads ,lanes and by lanes are clean.
Terminate Corrupt officials at all govt offices.

    Lobomaam,

For sure BJPeee guys are Nalayaaks....

However when you were MLA...and Sidda was CM things were not much better....Rai and Sorake were doing musical chair for Mangalore Municipal Commissioners post....which you once occupied before you joined politics....due to Commission issues....

Also things were same when you were Tahsildar of Somavarpete Coorg, and Gundu was CM in 1983.....

You guys are no better than BJPeee in anything....People should kick out both these Corrupt and Good for nothing political parties and bring in clean parties like AAP...

    ...Tak...Takk...

Cleanliness is worst in Mangalore city. Antony waste Garbage is collecting from flats only. Very few individuals Garbage they collect, and citizens are just throwing out side. No MCC officials are checking daily. There is no team check around Mangalore city. This the duty of every corporators to check his ward daily twice. But no one is doing this whether it is Congress or BJP corporators . No honestly working corporators we have. We need educated and literate corporators and work for 24×7 for their wards. Congress should not blame BJP because in their ward also same pathetic situations.

THERE IS AN OLD EXPRESSION THAT CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS. It is excpedient that this expression is borne in the minds of all City dwellers. However there is not much that they can do unless they have the full suport of the authorities concerned.

Many join Mr. Lobo's chorus and ask the authorities to ensure that The City is taken care of to make it A HEALTHY CITY FOR PEOPLE TO DWELL IN

CynthI Bai....issues of waste disposal are different in Mangalore. Not like Kirem/Pangala. In our villages nothing goes wasted except may be plastic bags. In our places fish waste will be eaten by cats and dogs. Rice waste (like neece) will be consumed by cattle. Without even waste collection our areas are clean and neat.

The situation is the same in many places of the twin districts DK and Udupi. Even small villages are not spared. There is no proper system to dispose plastic and glass waste. So it is thrown on the roadside or in the gutters, rivers, ponds etc.

everything is worse in dis bjp govt., since 2014. nobody is speaking in public about uncleanness & stinking smell everywhere .

karangalpady new cross road (c.g. kamath road) by da side a small thodu, where in rain water is moving & da rest of the year it was dry. now in dis thodu full of drainage water moves 24X7. dirty water gives bad smell to da residentials around dis thodu. mla vedavaasa & da ward corporators have kept a blind eye on dis thodu as well as dis road. dis road is full of potholes unfilled since 4 years not at all asphalted since 5 years.
@j.r.lobo kindly look in dis matter urgently.
