Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 9: State BJP will hold a three-day ‘Janasevaka Samavesha’ from January 11 to 13 all over the state, informed former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik.

Addressing media here on Saturday January 9, he said, “As many as five teams has been formed to conduct the state-level convention. Five teams will cover six districts each from January 11 to 13. On January 11, chief minister B S Yediyurappa will inaugurate the convention at Mysuru along with state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

“The team led by minister of Panchayat Raj K S Eshwarappa will visit Madikeri and Dakshina Kannada on January 11, Udupi and Uttar Kannada on January 12, and Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru on January 13. Eshwarappa will be accompanied by BJP national general secretary C T Ravi, district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, BJP state vice-president Aravind Limbavali, state general secretary N Ravikumar and Raitha Morcha state president Eranna Kadadi will be present.

“BJP gained upper hand in the recent gram panchayat elections which garnered 20,541 more seats compared to previous panchayat elections. We need to carry forward the same performance in the forthcoming taluk and zilla panchayat elections and also help representatives to prepare themselves for the elections. This will be the objective behind the convention. Meanwhile, BJP supported candidates who turned victorious in the elections will be felicitated,” he said.

“District BJP will organize the district level ‘Janasevaka Samavesha’ to celebrate the party's candidates’ victory in gram panchayat polls and to motivate the BJP workers to win the upcoming taluk and zilla panchayat polls, on January 12 at Amrith Garden auditorium, Ambagilu here,” said district BJP president Suresh Nayak Kuylady at a press meet.

He was speaking to mediapersons at the district BJP office Kadiyali here on Saturday January 9. He said, “Out of total 153 gram panchayats, BJP won 115 with clear majority. BJP achieved 90% of its target in the gram panchayat polls. It is a clear indication for all upcoming elections.”

State ministers namely Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister K S Eshwarappa, BJP’s national general secretary C T Ravi, Fisheries minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, state BJP vice president Aravind Nimbavali, State BJP general secretary N Ravi Kumar, and state president of Raitha Morcha Iranna Kadadi, are the chief guests for the convention.

District BJP president Suresh Nayak Kuylady will preside over the programme.

Also, the newly elected gram panchayat members, local body representatives of the party, board presidents, members, and authority presidents, too will take part in the convention.

He further said, “BJP has increased its number of seats in the district and state as well in the gram panchayat polls. Around 63% of BJP supported candidates were elected. As many as 2,351 BJP supported candidates contested in the election, out of which 1,495 emerged victorious. The ‘Janasevaka Samavesha’ is being organised to compliment the winners of the gram panchayat elections and to motivate them for the party to focus on winning a majority in the upcoming taluk and zilla panchayat polls. At present, there are 22 BJP members in zilla panchayat out of 26. But this time, BJP will sweep all the seats.”

Kutyaru Naveen Shetty, district general secretary, Guruprasad Shetty, district BJP spokesperson, Shivkumar Ambalpady, co-spokesperson, Shrinidhi Hegde, convener of media, Veena S Shetty, district president, Mahila Morcha and Manjunath Manipal, Udupi town general secretary, were present in the press meet.
