Vijayapura: Youth celebrates birthday in unique way, paints government school

Vijayapura, Jan 9: People normally celebrate their birthdays by going to hotels or other eateries with friends to have a hearty meal or by inviting close ones for celebration including cutting the cake at home. Political leaders who are camera savvy, visit hospitals and distribute fruits to a few patients.

Suresh Konnur, a youth from Tikota in this district, celebrated his birthday in a unique way. He chose to paint the school in his village on the occasion of his 29th birthday.

Suresh, son of Shankrappa and Goravva Konnur, sells milk in the morning. In the other times, he works in his two-acre agricultural land. He sees to it that on every birthday, he does something for the society or helps someone. Driven by the desire, he has painted the government lower primary school in Ashraya Colony in his village where he lives.

During his previous birthday, Suresh had distributed notebooks to 108 students from first to fifth standard of this school free of cost. This time, because of coronavirus, the school has not yet opened. Therefore, he spent Rs 25,000 and got inner and outer painting of the school building including doors and windows done by hiring three to four workers for a few days.

Konnur has studied till PU. He had not studied in the school which he got painted now. He said that the children of his colony and of his relatives however, study in this school. He had distributed masks to the people to protect from coronavirus, He also had arranged for water and food for animals and birds in his colony.

Headmistress of the school, Sharada Biradar Patil, and her teachers are happy that their school has got a new look now, thanks to Suresh Konnur.

    God bless him. This is real birthday celebration, and a lesson for people who spend lakhs of rupees on birthday party for liquor, cake cuting food etc.
