Mangaluru: Mithun Rai withdraws from state Youth Congress president race

Mangaluru, Jan 10: Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress president Mithun Rai will not be contesting for the position of state Youth Congress chief.

According to a statement issued by him here late on Saturday January 9, he has withdrawn from the election on the advice of KPCC president D K Shivakumar.

"Dear Friends, as you all know elections for Karnataka state youth Congress committee will be held from January 11 to 13," he announced on his official Facebook page.

"As I am a close aide of KPCC president D K Shivakumar, I am withdrawing my candidature from the election for the post of president as per the direction of KPCC president.

"I request everyone to take active part in the Youth Congress election," he said.

Mithun Rai was one of the top contenders for the post of Karnataka Youth Congress president, along with Mohammed Haris Nalapad, son of MLA N A Haris, Youth Congress social media and media coordinator Raksha Ramaiah and NSUI state president Manjunath. Rai had even started his campaign on social media.

The election will be held between January 10 to 12 online.

    Mithun may have followers in Puttur agreed. Even if its, its going to be very tough to win . as BJP has very strong and deep in really deep in DK. The Congress party has to allot him a very safe constituency like Ulala or Wayanad where victory is ensured.

    So? How will it save the depleted condition of Congress. Today they are still tryin to prove that they are the biggest opposition party. The only card they had was minority appeasement. That too has been snatched away by the other parties.

    Once again,, we are back to the same 'old story' of Congress. Come what may at the end its the chelas of politicians who become youth leaders despite repeated failures. Thats why supporters are deserting the party and looking for greener pastures. When will the party select and elect people on merit and performance basis ??? .     Better you run for it.... so that you can understand how people will support you
    In recent held Panchayat Election, one of my relative stood as Independent Candidate since his Party refused to give ticket.... Surprisingly, he got 167 Votes as against winning Candidate with 269 Votes means short by 102 votes... which was surprised all.
    Many of us lost a bet to him because we challenged him to get 100 votes as maximum
