Education minister Suresh Kumar chases bus, ensures it picks up school students

Tumkuru, Jan 10 (IANS): Karnataka Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar chased a bus belonging to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) for refusing to pick up school students who were waiting at a roadside bus stop in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district.

On seeing the KSRTC bus refusing to pick up school-going children at a roadside stop despite their request, the minister, who was on the way to visit Madhugiri in Tumakuru district, chased the bus and blocked it on the state highway near the I.K. Colony in Neelagondana Halli limits of Koratagere taluk.

Pulling up the driver and conductor for their high-handedness and refusal to pick up school going students, Kumar not only sought explanation but also directed them to compulsorily stop and pick up school-going children on their route.

Reacting over the incident, KSRTC tweeted, "The matter has been forwarded to the respective division to examine and take necessary action."

I appriciate what minister had done.Since KSRTC bus is state bus ,conductor and driver mostly dont mind if they have more passengers or not .whereas private ones are depend on their passengers or their pay.Till now may be noone was worried about their passengers.who cares for whose bus was the motto?Afterall state bus.Now they know what will happen if neglected. They should be punished for their dont care policy.I dont think here anything will happen .Again they push reason to another and last case pusk. That should be done without delay.Rural students are the sufferers.Private bus cant afford.state bus simply rolls off .

Now the driver and also the conductor of the said bus can give a right explanation as to why the school students of KSRTC bus were not picked up.

Iam very... happy sir because you noticed it. But the problem students are from rural side are facing daily.. while going to collages and schools. I don't why the bus drivers and conductors always angry on students, they won't give stop if there are only students. Please sir try to solve this issue.

I have seen some express / long distance buses with the board "no passes are accepted in this bus. " If it is a bus used only for the passebgers with reservation tickets, denying passes is ok. Express / long distance / limited stop buses have no compulsion of reservation. Why do they not allow students from permitted stops?

KSRTC (karnataka) serves the passengers in a better way. But ksrtc must educate thoroughly all its workers. Some conductors do not know the ticket stage, permitted stops, information about pass and sometimes even timings!! It is bad.

Instead pass a rule or give more buses. Why do goonda giri act in road? Let drivers follow their route rules.

What minister did is absolutely correct.

Here it is not Roadside Goondagiri. It is quick reaction.

If minister had asked KSRTC to investigate the incident, the bus conductor/driver would have opportunity to escape telling that no student was there at the stop.

One thing that you told is right. The both ministers (education and public transport) should take a common decision regarding students' transportation which will apply for all type of ksrtc buses.
