Though all were admitted to McGann hospital of Shivamogga as soon as the accident occurred, they succumbed to their injuries. A one-and-a-half year-old child Kannika, daughter of the deceased couple, is out of danger.

Nagendra and the couple along with the child, were going to Bengaluru. When they reached Rangenahalli of Tarikere their car was involved in a head on collision with another car. Kiran, who was in the other car, suffered a fracture. His co-passengers Ashwath and Nagaraj escaped without any injuries.

Nagendra has his own hotel in Bengaluru. He had come to his native place to partake in the annual festival of Jattigeshwara temple of Kodi. Anil was an electric contractor in Bengaluru and had come to his native place in order to visit the holy places.

The deceased couple Anil and Sujitha were supposed to travel by train to Bengaluru on Saturday. They had even booked their tickets. However, as Nagendra was their relative and was travelling alone back to Bengaluru, he asked the couple and their child to join him in the journey.

The mortal remains of the deceased are in McGann hospital in Shivamogga. They will be taken to their native place Kundapur after post-mortem, as per the information shared by the relatives of the deceased.

A case in this connection is registered in Lakkavalli police station.

    Well said H. Almeida.
Over speeding and reckless driving is the main reason.
From the impact and twisted steel frame we can imagine the cause of such martality.
    R.I.P.

Am horrified at the daily, routine, fatal causalities, occurring on highways n byways, in Coastal regions of Karnataka. We had similar very high mortality rates on Mumbai Express n National Highways... Due to speed restrictions n constant patrolling, the death roll, has been curtailed... A similar exercise has to be enforced, to bring down daily deaths, in the vicinity of Mangaluru city....
