Mangalore, Jun 11: The final settlement for the families of the victims of the recent Air India plane crash was done at Hotel Ocean Pearl in the city on Thursday June 10.

Sunil Kishan, executive director, Air India, said to the media that the final settlement will be done by Thursday evening. He said that a fake passport case involving a travel agent had led to giving a wrong passport number of the person with the same name and the issue is been clarified by the authorities with the assistance of the Dubai-based travel agent.

He said that the three-phased compensation programme which started on Friday May 28, will end by evening on Thursday with the giving away of compensation to the families with proper documents in the presence of Mulla and Mulla, a team of lawyers from Mumbai.

The team of lawyers is present to help families and to support Air India in documentation and by evening all the victims’ kin will be given the compensations as per the family’s needs and their dependency on the victim.

Kishan added that survivors’ compensation is already settled and the settlement with the two families who are not in India will be finalized later.
