'Shifting of RAF campus from Mangaluru to Bhadravati shows inefficiency of MP': Munir Katipalla

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Jan 18: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state president, Muneer Katipalla on Sunday January 17 alleged that the Rapid Action Force (RAF) campus of a newly raised battalion of CRPF which was supposed to come up at Badaga Yekkar in Mangaluru has been silently shifted to Bhadravati in Shivamogga district. "This is unfair to the people of the district," Munir said.

Terming it as a failure of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Munir said that the MP should take on the responsibility for this failure, apologize to the people in the district and explain the matter.

"Rapid Action Force's campus is essential to a communally sensitive district like Dakshina Kannada. Mangaluru is a center for Malnad and other regions of coastal Karnataka where communal violence occurs. If the RAF campus was established in Mangaluru, it would be easier to reach other districts with help of airport and road connectivity. This campus would help in preventing communal violence in Dakshina Kannada. During Siddaramaiah's reign in Karnataka, 50 acre of land was reserved for this purpose in Badaga Yekkar of Mangaluru," Munir said.

"Arrangements were then made to provide additional land, if necessary, for the campus. Now without any discussion, keeping the people in the dark, the campus has been moved to the Bhadravati in Shivamogga. This is the inefficiency of the MP, BJP state president of Nalin Kumar Kateel who is well-known for provocative speeches," he added.

"MP is silent on the projects that would pollute the environment in the district and has remained silent on the pro-people projects in the district. The merger of banks, handing over of MIA to Adani Group and now shifting of the RAF campus from district shows inefficiency and failure of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel," said Munir Katipalla in a media release.
