Instrument Landing System Begins Operation at Mangalore Airport Again

Mangalore, Jun 17: The Air India Express flight from Dubai touched down at the local airport as usual on Wednesday June 16 morning, but the flight from Kuwait that was to land here at 9.30 am was diverted to Kozhikode. Because of inclement weather, the flight, after taking a few rounds here, went to Kozhikode airport. In normal course, it should have touched down here, before proceeding to Kozhikode.
This flight came back with Dubai-bound passengers later and left to Dubai again at 11.30 am. The Jet Airways flight from Mumbai that was to arrive at 10.40 am came at 2.30 pm. The Indian airlines flight in the afternoon from Mumbai too suffered a delay of two hours because of heavy rains in Mumbai. The Jet Airways flight from Mumbai, was delayed by an hour, reaching here at 3.30 pm.
The Instrument Landing System at Bajpe airport that had been damaged after having been hit by the Air India Express flight that crashed here on May 22, has been reinstated. It started functioning at 6.30 pm on Wednesday. With this, the flight schedules are expected to improve. A team from New Delhi had come for fixing the system on Monday. After conducting various tests to check its functioning, the system was officially declared to be operational on Wednesday evening
