Bengaluru, Jan 23: The house committee formed to go into the unsavoury incidents which unfolded at the legislative council session on December 15, 2020 at the legislative council, has since handed over a 84-page report to council chairman, Prathapachandra Shetty.
President Of the house committee, Maritibbe Gowda, speaking after handing over the report, said that the committee was given 20 days time to hand over report. "We held five meetings. The report on the first four meetings and evidences have been submitted in the form of a CD. We will seek more time to file a detailed report," he stated.
Gowda said that notices had been served on the council secretary, marshalls and council member, Ramesh, who were present when the disturbances happened, and their statements have been obtained. He said that the committee feels that there is a need to obtain information from the news channels, council webscast, CCTV cameras as well as information and public relations department," he explained.
"After the incident, deputy chairman of the council, S L Dharme Gowda, breathed his last. We have written to the home sectetary seeking a copy of the death note Gowda reportedly has left behind. Therefore, we have not been able to file a full report within the allotted time of 20 days," he narrated.
Speaking after receiving the report, council chairman, Prathapachandra Shetty, said that a five-member house committee had been formed after the said incident, to go into the details and submit a report. He noted that two members of the committee, Vishwanath and Sankanur, have resigned. He said that the report will be studied and the issue of allotting extension of time to the committee will be considered.
