Mangalore, Jun 18: Even as organizations have started staging a protest by way of hunger strike from morning to evening every day in front of the office of the district deputy commissioner here from Thursday June 17 onwards, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has taken steps to acquire the remaining seven acres of land in Kalavaru village that is still in Gregory Patrao’s possession.

KIADB has, besides depositing a sum of Rs 69 lac as compensation in the High court for the land proposed to be acquired, also has issued a notification for acquiring the said land. Out of 14.27 acres of land Gregory owns, 6.99 acres of land was taken into possession by KIADB in an operation on April 28 this year. Sources said that the actual acquisition of this land might take place after Gregory harvests the crop grown in this agricultural field.

KIADB has said that all the 108 items it took over on April 28 from Gregory’s place have been stored in a house in Permude village, rented from Yadav Kotian. Officials said that the things will remain there till Gregory’s rehabilitation procedures are completed. As Patrao refused to take the key to the house, it has been handed over to Permude gram panchayat, they revealed.

friends, greory's fight is never been for a fight for more compensation. It has been against the lies of MRPL n MSEZ and a fight to retain his family's ancestral agaricultural proprty. We must remember that, the house that was demolished by the officials was a very special house-comunity prayers used to be held at this very house before PEZAR church was built, especially when priests used to visit from gOa.so, that makes the house about 350 years old and very special for the entire catholic community.

This partisan Nagesh Nayak is silent about the mosque and church demolished. This Nagesh Nayak is mum about the temple in the middle of the road at Infosys - Mangalore still standing, this Nagesh Nayak is mum about the temple at Karangalpady (Bunts Hostel), this Nagesh Nayak is mum about the peeple tree worship places at Hampankatta and Kadri, all to be demolished for "development" but still standing. So unbeautiful about this Nagesh.

we see here double standard between individaul and corporate. Being owner of aggricultaural land, we cannot use this land for any industrial purpose. But corporate can. why?Next 10 YRS, in D.K. most of the farm land and emty places will be occupied by govt for one or other reason and this heaven place for govt as people from this places are calm and quite. No sena bothers on these matters.
