Chikkamagaluru, Jan 27: A person named Cheluvaraj, sub-registrar at Sringeri, on Tuesday January 26 filed a complaint in Sringeri police station on Tuesday, duly naming Gangadhar as accused in the complaint.
Minister Ashok had visited Sringeri on the evening of January 24. Reportedly, personal assistant (PA) of the minister Gangadhar made a call to Sringeri sub-regisitrar Cheluvaraj, informing him that the minister wants to meet him. Ashok had visited Sringeri Adichunchanagiri hall at about 7.30 pm where Cheluvaraj met the minister's PA. Allegedlly , Gangadhar stretched his hands and asked Cheluvaraj to hand him over the bribe amount, it is said. Cheluevaraj is said to have responded by claiming that he neither receives the bribe nor pays it. Gangadhar then saw a letter in the hands of the sub-registrar and asked what was that. When he said he had written a complaint and requested Gangadhar to give to the minister, the PA curtly told him to hand it over to the minister before going away, it is said.
Later that night, Gangadhar made a WhatsApp call to Cheluvaraj. The audio recording of this conversation has gone viral in the social media now. As a complaint has been filed against his PA, revenue minister R Ashok, has decided to send him back to his parent department, sources said. Gangahdar is from the sectetariat of the Vidhana Soudha and he will be there till the investigation is completed. It is said that Gangadhar has planned to file defation suit against the Sringeri sub-registrar, accusing him of making baseless allegations against him and sullying his reputation.
