International flights to remain suspended till Feb 28

New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS): India on Thursday extended the suspension of scheduled commercial international flight operations to and from the country till February 28.

"This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation)," an official statement said.

"However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case to case basis."

At present, India has entered into 'Air Bubble' agreements with several countries.

This type of arrangement allows nationals of both the countries to travel in either direction.

Passenger air services were suspended on March 25, 2020 due to the nationwide lockdown to check the spread of Covid-19.

Domestic flight services, however, resumed from May 25.

This ban on International flights being suspended till Feb 28 is confusing. There is no clear cut as to who can travel and who not. I and my wife are one of them. even though we are OCI card holders we still miss our children who are settled in US. Also I know many of my friends have gone in and out of India without any problems.

Dear brother in Christ, you may want to try "Bubble Flights". I have been trying to visit my family when my big brother breathed last in June, 2020. With tearful eyes I along with my nephews watched the Funeral Service on Zoom. In December I got a seat in Lufthansa from Chicago to Bangalore. Keep trying different airlines. You may also try British Airways or American Airlines. Air India operates to the States on "Bubble". But some airlines are pretty expensive. Please check their websites for better deals.
I am sure you and your wife will get seats in one of these "Bubble Flights".
    Grace and Peace!

There r daily flights to US on Air India, United, Luftansa etc on the bubble arrangement. Prices are very cheap compared to pre Covid times.

But its not a good idea to visit US now especially for elderly. Daily covid cases r 1-1.5 lakhs daily vs 15,000 in India. Wait for another 3 months for things to improve.

International passengers are arriving and departing New Delhi Airport without any problem. How come?

It looks like the ban applies only to the other International Airports in the country.
