Udupi, Jan 29: Well-known artiste Austin Machado (41), resident of Sampige Nagar, Udyavar here has died from drowning in Papanashini river on Thursday, January 28. Austin was a talented artist who had performed in several dramas.
He had been to the river on Thursday to pick shells and went missing.
Since he did not return for a long time, his family lodged a complaint at Kaup police station.
The victim's lifeless body was discovered on the morning of Friday, January 29. It is suspected that Austin likely lost his balance and fell into the river.
He is said to have been an expert in cultural events, literature, sports activities. He used to operate Kala Arts.
