Karkala: Young boy who dreams of becoming Kambala racer

Karkala, Jan 30: A nine-year-old boy has attracted the attention of many by determinedly racing behind the buffalos that are trained for participation in Kambalas.

Athish Parabhu happens to be just nine years old. He is the son of Suhas Prabhu-Amrutha couple from Manjalbettu. Athish dreams of becoming a Kambala racer one day. He is a fourth standard student of SVT School here. He has a lot of interest in Kambala, a folksport of Tulunadu. He wants to emulate the famous racer of Kambalas, Srinivas Gowda, and become like him one day. For achieving that, he trains in different levels and his parents have been supporting his interests.

Athish's family owns Kambala buffaloes. He holds their tails both when they are led for being washed and when returning home. He also feels great, wearing a cloth which is like the uniform of Kambala racers. His interest and dogged determination have earned him lot of praise.
