Mangaluru, Jan 30: 'If you want real peace in the world start with children' - Mahatma Gandhi
Commemorating the death of Mahatma Gandhiji, Mount Carmel Central School celebrated Peace Day on January 30.
The programme commenced with an ‘All Faith Prayer’ invoking God's choicest blessings on the citizens, our country and in a special way remembered with gratitude Gandhiji and all the slain martyrs.
As a mark of reverence, Mahatma Gandhiji's portrait was decorated with a garland of flowers by the principal Sr Melissa and the administrator Sr Carissima.
The significance of the day was well narrated by student Senorita along with a few of Mahatma Gandhi's famous quotes on peace. The Gandhian values of prayer, truth, ahimsa, respect and love for his countrymen was well depicted through a skit. The dance had in it an aura of peace and serenity. Student Mahathi welcomed the audience. The programme was compered by students Ronan and Tanisha while Sumedha proposed the vote of thanks.
At the end of the programme one would agree 'Outward peace is useless without inner peace'- Mahatma Gandhi.
