Kasargod, Jan 31: In a tragic incident, two young brothers met watery grave while taking a bath in a pond at Bambrana near Kumble here on the evening of Sunday January 31.
The deceased have been identified as Shadad (12) and his brother Shiyaz (8), sons of Shareef, a resident of Ichlangod.
It is learnt that the brothers had been to a pond near the Bambrana bridge for a bath along with some other boys.
While in the water, the two boys got swept by the currents. Other boys who were with them raised an alarm, at which locals who were around came rushing.
Fire personnel from Uppala also rushed to the spot and began a rescue operation. However, by the time the boys were brought to the shore, they had already breathed their last.
Kumble police have registered a case.
