Delhi Crime Branch arrest Sukhdev Singh for his role in violence at Red Fort

New Delhi, Feb 8: The Delhi police have arrested a man from Chandigarh for his involvement in the recent violence that happened at Red Fort on Republic Day during farmers' tractor rally in the national capital.

The accused had a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

According to reports, Delhi Police's Crime Branch was tracing Sukhdev Singh for the past 10 days for his connection with the Red Fort violence. After receiving a tip-off, the police rushed to Chandigarh to make the arrest.

Singh, who is a resident of Karnal, Haryana, was arrested from the industrial area near Centra Mall in Chandigarh.

With Singh's arrest, the total number of people arrested by the police accused of the Republic Day violence has reached 127.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police arrested three persons identified as Harpreet Singh (32), Harjeet Singh (48) and Dharmender Singh (55), all residents of Delhi, in connection with the violence.

They were nabbed by the special investigating team (SIT) of the north district on Wednesday. The crime branch, which is also investigating the cases, formally arrested them on Friday, police said.
