Chidmabaram Requests Hegde Not to Press His Resignation

New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI): Home Minister P Chidambaram today requested Karnataka Lok Ayukta head Santosh Hegde not to press his resignation, saying this would only encourage the ''corrupt elements'' in the state.

Chidambaram spoke to Hegde who had tendered his resignation on Wednesday citing the "callous" attitude of the BJP government in the state towards fighting corruption.

"I requested Hegde not to press his resignation. The resignation will give greater encouragement and comfort to corrupt elements in Karnataka. Therefore in the interest of the people of Karnataka, he should not press his resignation" Chidambaram told him.

The Home Minister later told PTI that Hegde indicated he would consider his request.

Hegde, known for his crusade against corruption and the mining lobby, has decided to resign from his post and criticised the Yeddyurappa government for its "indifference to Lokayukta institution".

"I have no regrets over quitting my office. I am not in the habit of using resignation as a blackmail. My decision is final," the former Supreme Court judge had said after submitting his resignation letter to Governor H R Bhardwaj.

"I don't want to be useless sitting in a position. It is not enough if I catch people. I need powers to bring cases to logical conclusion," he said.Hegde's resignation comes at a time when the first-ever BJP government in the south is celebrating its completion of two years in office.

Corruption & Bribery is common among the all Indians, it is inherited.
I am working in Bahrain, some time back I had read an article in a local newspaper from the survey were they conducted, in gulf countries the most corrupt & bribe excepting employee is Indians compare to other nationality. It is also said, most in construction field and the people are in higher position in a organization.
There is no solution for this my friend….if Mr. Hegde resigns or not, no were big differences going to happen. Heredity is heredity nobody can change…………..except God……………….just pray to GOD.

By observing the mood of Justice N Santhosh Hegde today on TV, I am 100% sure that he WILL NOT go back from his decision to resign. On the contrary all in the government & opposition are happy internally and shedding crocodile tears to show the public.  As rightly said these are all students of same school (coruption). SAMAVESHA is over now and henceforth they can enact ANY VESHA.

      Dear Chidambaram Sahab,

In India, there is no place for good people. Whether it is respected Santhosh Hegde or Mr. T. N Sheshan or Dr. Abdul Kalam. Nobody wants to respect the work (irrespective of parties). Otherwise, we would have eminent president and Chief Election Officers continued till date. But, every Party need the rubber stamps.

Mr.Hamid...Corruption is a never ending issue all over the world..its not only illegal minig...there are so many other legal ways for corruption...we Indians are very good at breaking the laws leagally...If tomorrow a new law comes out...we will have 100 new legal ways to break it....so our constitution needs to be ammended to stop all this crap...

no use of following outdated laws for this modern world. This is whats been taught to us by British....and still we are following the same... People in gulf follow the rules so honestly...but why not in India? Because we know how poor are our rules and regulations...everything needs reformation if we have to go with the wind...we being so hypocritic, how can we expect others to change....

If Chidu's request saves Justice Hegde from quiting Lokayukta post we are very much pleased to hear it.The issue now went beyond the border and may be the national issue in the days to come.

But CM's non committal to empower the Lokyukta on the eve of Sadhana Samevesha and "MOSALE KANEERU"in the ralli of SS made me disappointed."ROGI BAYASIDDU HAALU DOCTOR KOTTADDU HAALU" for BJP/CM.

Mr. Chidamabaram, does your statment "this would only encourage the ''corrupt elements'' in the state of Karnataka" assures the people of Karnataka, that your congress government in central is clean and corruption free? Well Mr. Chidambaram, the corruption lesson and practice in India started by the congress. If you are not sure, please cross check with your senior leaders who were involved while you were teething. Corruption by the congress government is all over in our country and it's a pity we are governed by congress. Hegde's drama is a chicken feed vitamins by the congress and congress is making full effort to ruin the leadership of BJP in Karnataka and Gujarat. Well chidamabaram in the survey of good governance of Chief Minister in India, BJP has three CM and on the top is Shri Narendra Modi. Any comment from you chidy.
