Udupi, Feb 10: A house at Manipura, Katpady, here, in which a family resides has become old and feeble and could collapse at any time. Catholic Sabha in the city, which realized the gravity of the situation is determined to construct the house for the poor family.
Gilbert Pinto's family lives in the house which was constructed about 45 years ago. Gilbert Pinto was employed as a vehicle driver but is unable to work due to problems with his eyesight. Gilbert’s son had bought an autorickshaw on borrowed money. The family depends only on its earnings for their livelihood.
Their house was inundated during the recent floods and a portion of the house had given in.
Members of the Catholic Sabha decided to construct a 550 square feet house for them. The house will be built with donations from kind-hearted people. Catholic Sabha plans to hand over the house during Easter this year. The work on the construction has already begun.
