Beltangady, Feb 12: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V, on Thursday February 11, visited the parents of Sanath Shetty from Kashibettu who went missing due to the landslide which occurred at Bangarapalke waterfall in Malavanthige village. He consoled them and said encouraging words.

The search operation conducted in the last two weeks failed to yield any result. Speaking to Sanath's parents and brothers,  he said that the operation is continuing with the help of government employees from different departments and the public. He said that all efforts have been made to trace Sanath and the district administration has extended maximum support. He said that a decision on the future of the operation would be taken after visiting the site of the tragedy.

Later, he visited the site where the operation is going on and held discussions with the police, other officials and locals. Speaking to media persons there, he noted that it has been 18 days since the tragedy happened and hard decisions will have to be taken. Therefore, he said he has undertaken a spot visit. "If all the efforts fail, we will speak to the family and take the hard decision of ending the search operation. If a person goes missing, nothing can be said for sure for seven years," he explained.

MLC, Pratap Simha Nayak, Puttur assistant commissioner, Dr Yathish Ullal, Beltangady tahsildar, Mahesh J, deputy superintendent of police, Valentine D'Souza, police circle inspector, Sandesh PG and several other dignitaries, government officials and others were present.
