Udupi: Drowning at Yermal Sea - Bodies of Two Other Victims Recovered

Udupi, Jun 29: The bodies of Ravichandra Rao and Swaroop Rao, residents of Pattananka House in Padubidri Bengre, who had been washed away by tumultuous sea on Sunday June 27, were recovered on Monday afternoon. The body of the other victim had been found shortly after he had drowned on Sunday evening.
The body of Chennai-based Kamal Rao, a relative of the above two, which was found on Sunday, was released to the close relatives on Monday after conducting post mortem. The funeral of Kamal was conducted at Udupi on Monday.
Expert swimmers, Ravi Anchan Bankirakatte, Dharmendra Kotian, and Chandrashekhar Kotian from Yermal Tenka, with the help of several locals, succeeded in bringing the body of Swaroop Rao with the help of ropes, to the seashore at Bengre. The body of Ravichandra Rao was found to have been washed ashore by waves near the Yermal estuary.
Formal MLA, Vasant V Salian, visited Shakuntala Rao, mother of Ravichandra Rao, and consoled the family. He promised to ask funds to be released to the family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, in view of the fact that it has lost its bread winner. Kaup MLA, Lalaji R Mendon, zilla panchayat member, Shashikant Padubidri etc., actively participated in the rescue operations. The two bodies found on Monday were assigned to flames near their family home after post mortem formalities were completed, on Monday evening
The body of Sudhakar, a rickshaw driver, who had drowned at Malpe beach on Sunday evening, was also recovered on Monday.
