Puttur, Feb 20: Pavitra, resident of Peruvaje Kundadka in Sullia taluk and SSLC student of Karnataka Public School at Bellare, who had been trying to secure Aadhar card for herself since the last five years, finally got her card. She received her Aadhar card on the evening of Friday February 19.

Puttur senior superintendent of posts Shreeharsha Nettar, and postal assistant Suma H S, who learnt about the plight of the student, discussed the matter with the girl's parents and got the details.

Based on her previous registration number, details were collected. Problems were addressed and by the evening, a new Aadhar card was issued to the Pavitra, and her mother Geetha at Bellare post office. The card was handed over on Friday evening.

Earlier, the district administration had passed on instructions to look into the problem faced by the Pavitra, daughter of Babu and Geetha couple, both of whom work as coolies. She had been trying in vain to get an Aadhar card. She had visited various offices and registered her name for Aadhar card in private and government centres. The girl was deprived of scholarship from the social welfare department after the fifth standard as she did not have Aadhar card. Her mother said that for the fault of someone else, her daughter has been deprived of the scholarship. The girl is now relieved that her effort has finally paid off.

In the past, the girl had contacted the consumer service centre but the staff asked her to call after 15 minutes as they were busy. When she called again, they wanted to speak to her parents. However, when the parents made a call, they were told that the server is busy and they were asked to contact after some days.
