Mangalore: Jul 3 (DHNS): Can there be beauty in destruction? Yes, says contemporary artist Deviprasad Rao hosting his solo exhibition ‘Floating world’ at Orchid Art gallery on Friday in Mangalore.
The art may seem a bit abstract and vague to a layman, but it is only when a viewer looks deeper into the piece of work, that the work unfolds the mystery keeping the very piece of work as a subjective element, open to feed one’s perception.
“While most artists draw their lines first and then fill colours, I do the other way round. Its colours first and then lines for me,” says Rao adding that once the construction part is done, its time for deconstruction, to bring of the final result- A maze ready to boggle the minds of the viewers.
“Through my works I express and explore the process of construction, deconstruction and floating fragmented forms within a given space that may provoke viewers to find his own meanings in it. However, as an image most of my works are like bird’s eye view of city or landscape or even organic elements,” the artist with a difference. ‘Floating World’ in four series, Beyond Barcelona, Buddha, Prescience and Cosmic clusters are his volumes of works so far. His works, in his own words are the outcome of his experience gained from extensive travelling and this has been intelligently manifested by him through the medium of colours.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Gopal B Hosur.
Speaking on the occasion, Hosur said that artists are creative people who live life on their own terms.
He said that the art displayed at the exhibition conveys the intrinsic value of life on the move. Hosur added that he would like to come again to Orchid Art Gallery to view exhibitions of paintings in the future too.
Orchid Art Gallery Director William Pais, Titus Noronha, Ronald Gomes and others were present.
