Bengaluru, Feb 26: Gaurav Gupta, administrator of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), along with officials, reviewed the progress of Smart City road projects undertaken by BBMP on Friday.
Speaking after the inspection, the administrator said chief minister B S Yediyurappa will soon inaugurate nine roads developed under Smart City Ltd.
Of the 36 roads that are being constructed, five have been thrown open to the public so far, he said.
He visited Raj Bhavan Road, Nehru Planetarium Road, Cantonment Road, Queens Road, Kasturba Road and Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road and inspected the progress.
He instructed the authorities to complete the pending work immediately.
Gaurav Gupta instructed officials to take necessary actions to clear the pedestrian underpass at Raj Bhavan Road as it is not being used.
Illegal OFC cables dangling from the trees towards the pedestrian tracks must be immediately cleaned, he said.
Smart City projects must make sure that the pedestrian tracks must be even and uniform especially around the tree structures as they are in the Tender Sure model. Smooth movement of pedestrians must be ensured, the administrator said.
A section of the work at Nehru Planetarium Road is complete. Seating arrangements have been made near the trees while the installation of street lights is pending.
The administrator also visited Cantonment Road and Queens Road on the occasion.
Noticing RCC the electric poles on the pedestrian tracks, he immediately contacted the BESCOM managing director and asked to take necessary measures to clear them as soon as possible. He also ordered the Smart City officials to install the electrical cables underground and said the roads must be asphalted soon after the completion of the construction work.
As the pedestrian tracks are almost complete on both sides at Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, he asked the officials to asphalt the roads immediately.
The public toilet which is on the pedestrian track must be cleared as it will cause inconvenience to the pedestrians, he said.
Smart City Ltd. managing director Rajendra Cholan, chief engineer Ranganath Naik and other officials were present on the occasion.
