Bangalore: BJP Warns Centre against Implementing Reservation to Minorities

Bangalore, Jul 5 (DHNS):
The BJP on Sunday warned the Union government against implementing the Ranganath Mishra Committee report on providing reservation to minorities and said the government would fight against any attempt to cut down reservation for backward classes.

Addressing a large gathering at “Swabhimana Samaavesha,” a backward class convention, organised by State unit of the party at Palace Grounds, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari alleged that the Centre wants to cut down the share of reservation for the OBCs and instead provide reservation for minorities.

“It is an act of vote bank politics. The Congress wants to cheat the backward classes and appease minorities...The report is a curse to backward classes. We will never allow its implementation,” the BJP chief stated.

BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan and State BJP President K S Eshwarappa too opposed the report.

“We are ready to go to jail but will never allow the Centre to implement the report. The implementation of the report will amount to grave injustice to backward classes,” said Yeddyurappa.

Panel to be set up

Yeddyurappa, in a bid to woo the backward classes announced a number of measures in the State, including extending loan at 6 per cent interest for every OBC family to buy a pair of milch cow, setting up a backward class committee at district level to address their problems, providing housing facilities and a survey on the status of backward classes.
Though he did not elaborate on the 6 per cent loan scheme to buy milch cows, he said the plan is to extend the loan to around 25,000 beneficiaries in every district.

“I have already spoken to K S Eshwarappa on the need for conducting a survey on the status of backward classes. The survey will facilitate the government in chalking out new programmes for the development of backward classes. Funds for the development programmes will be earmarked in next year’s budget,” he added.

On the controversy over issuing caste certificate to Sadaru Lingayats under 2B Category, the chief minister sought to clarify that Opposition parties are misleading the people. “I will not let this happen in my life time,” he said.

Earlier, Eshwarappa commended Chief Minister Yeddyurappa’s work towards the welfare of backward classes and assured that he would continue to be the chief minister for the second term.

I will shed tears no more: CM

Yeddyurappa promised not to shed tears hereafter but instead try to wipe the tears of backward class people.

“Considering the state of backward classes, I shed tears during the recent Saadana Samavesha. From now on I will not do so. I will single-mindedly work towards the welfare of backward classes and try to wipe their tears,” he stated.

    Folks,

Reservation should be abolished immediately, no where in the world there is reservation based on caste/minority/majority.

Students whose parents are poor should be given grants/student loans(government quarented) like in US irrespective of caste/religion but on only economic status of their parents.

Guys please see who is reaping fruits of reservation?

    1.Jagajivan Rams daughter Meira Kumar?

2.Mr Ram Vilas Paswan and his family?

3.Ms Mayavathi and her mom, and siblings?

4.Mr Mallikarjuna Kharge and his fly?

    5. Mr Aravinda Limbavali of BJP and Higher Education minister of Karnataka?

Guys please tell me if these people and their families really deserve benefits of reservation...???

This is just an example, there are millions of example like this....

BR Ambedkar wanted reservation for first 10 years upto 1960, now 2010 we still extend it for ever...

Dear Shahnawaz Kukkikatte/Dubai, Good, thoughtful comments. The majority/ minority system should be vanished. There should be only one community and that is Indian. None will be identified by their religion, cast or creed.

The govt must abolish the reservation system not only for minorities but also for all Indians. In return it must adapt and implement following policy.

Under right to education, govt must finance the higher and professional education courses of economically backward people and not backward classes or minorities. Such grants or financial loans/scholarships must be given purely to those meritorious but poor people. With a time frame of 5 years, all employment opportunities must be given on the basis of equality of opportunties based on performance and merit. We dont want clashes between minorities and majorities, haves and have nots. Equality of opportunities in education is the major step forward in building a healthy and sound economy. Only good education can empower people. I being a muslim, didnt get any reservation or favours from any govt.

Just politicians are making hue and cry and pulling each others legs. Majority of professional colleges belong to these dirty and evil minded politicians. They dont want to change the system. Educated voters means, they will come to know the true color of politicians and eventually they stand exposed. So reservation is a tool to keep the people backward and in the name of reservations, they make huge money for themselves and for the party. Neither UPA/NDA, Congress/BJP are sincere in their approach to this subject. All dirty politics and dirty game. If tomorrow Gadkari joins Congress, he will favour reservations. Sad but very true.

    See the smiling politicians with
    various "bullets of tricks" at
the gun barrel to shoot on each
    pulpit drama!

Mr. R. Shetty has spoken in the
    plain language: until we
take that course of action to
    deliver reservation strictly on
the basis of economic condtions of the people
we are discriminating millions of eligible people of the
    whole nation. India is a
    secular nation, so promoting any
    religion under the pretext of
"reservation" is quite an injstice to
    the economially suffering people
    of other religions.

It seems you have woken up from deep slumber. BJP is not appeasing minorities, but are trying to remove any misgivings/misunderstandings minorites have againt BJP policies and agenda. In fact BJP has assured to be fair with everyone irrespective of caste creed. So not mix reservation and pure politics here. It seems you always come here tro spit venom against BJP for no reason. Some time you spew more venom than a real serpent.

Its high time that same set of people and their descendants are enjoying the fruits of reservation, while leaving economically backward and poor people of forward class out the ambits of these benefits. Reservation is impedeing overall progress of the country due to average brains at the helms of affairs of the country, but it is encouraging brain drain too. stop reserving jobs and promotion to SC/ST. Merit should be the only criteria after education. There is no question of providing reservation to minorites., who have had fruits of conversion from their masters by way of usurping hindu ladns and properties.

Well said R. Shetty, Mangalore/Dubai. I agree your views. The present reservation system doesn't help either minorities or the backward classes. Only beuracrats get benefitted out of it. The reservation provision should be based on the economic condition of the individual and not based on one's religion, cast or sector. Even a Brahmin should be benefitted if he is financially backward.
Now coming to the above subject it is purely vote bank politics and the state BJP is adapting Gujarat policy. Using tribal people against minorities as Gujarat did during post godhra communal riots. This is condemnable. By the way Mr. Gadkari looks great in Mysore peta.

Indian constitution is framed in such a way that, it is the duty of the majority community to protect the minorities. No Govt. can try to abolish the minorities their rights enshrined in the constitution. So our politicians should think twice before opening their mouth. Irrespective of caste and creed we indians are united like brothers and sisters. These coward politicians are creating mistrust amongst the classes of people. It should be stopped. I vehimentaly object such move from any politician.

BJP have been all along blaming Congress for the vote bank politics and it is unfortunate that BJP leaders themselves now started playing vote bank politics.
If all these political parties are sincerely concerned about the development of poor & underprivileged and growth of our beloved country current reservation system must be scrapped and introduce a new reservation system which must be primarily based on following:

    i) The economic condition of the individuals and
ii) Combination of merit and economic conditions for the professional studies.

We public should not heed or encourage any political parties and their slogans of vote bank politics .
