Udupi: Heavy Rains Give Rise to Artificial Floods

Udupi, Jul 5: The town experienced unrelenting rains on the night of Sunday July 4. Due to heavy downpour, low-lying areas of the town were inundated, as construction and road works have been hampering free flow of water at many places.





















The tiled roof covering three class rooms of Saraswati Higher Primary School in Shiribeedu here crashed to the ground because of inclement weather conditions. As the incident occurred at night, no one was injured.

The school had celebrated its platinum jubilee in 2002.

    Did you notice? All houses are built in the field. That is why this flood ... So take care while building the  house. ... don't cut beautiful trees .

    For once I thought the flooded area was fertile paddy fields... Or has it become a converte commercial land... Does the Rain and flowing natural water distinguish between agricultural and commercial land?? I guess if proper way is made for the water to flow to the river as it has been through centuries it will or else it will consider the land as it used to be Paddy fields that need at least 3 months of water flow and flood.
    Nice High rise building have come up in the paddy fields though....
    Time to buy rice from Big Bazaar....

    dig more sand from river , cut all plant jungle to build buityful concrete jungle..then you will get a formula known as "artificial flood"
