Mangalore, Jul 7: City-based ‘Sania Media’ led by journalist, actor, director, Ismail Moodushedde, organized the release of Kannada monthly magazine ‘The Coastal Times’ and a screening of Tulu telefilm ‘Sahana Namma Oordaa Ponnu’ on Tuesday July 6 at Mangalore Town Hall.

The event was inaugurated with the release of three white doves by Ravindra Shetty, senior correspondent, ‘Vijaya Karnataka’, entrepreneur B M Mumtaz Ali, Sadanand Shetty, president, Shri Devi Education Trust, and Hyder Parthipady, president, Tulu Aikyata Vedike. The magazine was released by Ali.

Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld, gave a start to the short movie / telefilm ‘Sahana Namma Orruda Ponnu’.

The two-hour telefilm has been produced by Vincent Fernandes and directed by Ismail Moodushedde. The film reflects the communal harmony among the three major communities of Dakshina Kannada region—Hindu, Muslim, and Christian. To add more colour to the film, Kannada, Beary, and Konkani languages are also added in between.

Wishing the movie all success, Nandalike urged the producers to screen such movies around the twin districts and also abroad.

Earlier, Kannada poet Muhammad Baddur in his introductory speech, criticized the current generation of media and termed it ‘biased’ and went to the extent of saying that part of the media is creating ‘terror’ among the people, while some are responsible for creating communal violence in the region.

However, Ravindra Shetty hit back in his speech and said, “Media cannot create ‘terror’, it is the reader who has full control in verifying the issue. There may be some exceptions of sensationalizing the news, but media cannot be termed as ‘terrorist'’”.

S Ganesh Rao, founder president, Karavali Group of Colleges, in his presidential speech, said that any person who did some small work in Mangalore can reach great heights.  He suggested to Moodushedde that in his publications the front page be dedicated to heroes who do good to society and not to highlight negative events and crimes.

Senior journalist Chidambar Baikampady, movie and drama artiste Devdas Kapikad, producer and director Praveen Kumar Konchadi, and movie and drama artiste Vincent Fernandes were honoured for their good work by Karnataka Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor and Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishat president B A Muhammed Haneif.

The other guests at the programme were Muhammed Ali Abbas, president, Rotary Club, Moodbidri, M B Sadashiva Sulya, DK district leader, Janata Dal Secular (JD(S)), Hyder Parthipady, president, Tulunad Aikyatha Vedike, and Muhammed Byari, convener, Ideal English School, Edapadav.

The telefilm ‘Sahana...’ was screened free of cost for the audience at the Town Hall.

Tulunadu effect from Kundapur to Tallichery is unique. The people from these region should pledge not to get carried away by the communal instigations which is purely for their ulterior modives.
We should learn from exteremely religious people of Tamilnadu who are all God-fearing good human being. Their religion never taught them to hate their co-human being instead they look for inclusive growth. We too should develop the future generation of this region into very intellectual, highly cultural, enterpreuning and peace loving individuals. We should convert this region into one of the developed pockets of the world with systematic planning, regular township, cutting on villages, co-operative farming, centralised water distribution instead of several wells, limited world-standard town roads instead of sub-standard interior bye lanes to the villages in hills and dales. Road facing structures should have a theme to look uniformely continious without any illegal addition in the later stages …
