Stephen Nazareth Elected president of Konkan Yuva

Dubai, Jul 7:  KONKAN YUVA, the youth wing of St Mary’s Konkani Community Dubai, today announced the elected Core Committee for the 6th year. The democratically elected committee is governed by its constitution which aims at welfare and building strong community bond among the youth from the Konkan region residing in U.A.E.

Konkan Yuva is the first organization for the youth of Konkan Region residing in Dubai. The organization has played key role in bringing the youth together, organizing various cultural programs and helped members to enhance their skills by providing various levels of trainings. Konkan Yuva’s Key Responsibility Area is to support charities, provide information on Job opportunities, and support the community with voluntary services.

President elect Stephen Nazareth said “he is humbled by the overwhelming response received towards his candidature and believes that he has got the best team to carry the torch forward. I have been in KY for over 5 years now. I joined KY in the year 2005 as a primary member and have seen the KY team grown from a small team of friends to a gigantic 150 member association, in the past 5 years Konkan Yuva has been instrumental in providing a networking opportunity, harnessed skills, created a knowledge sharing platform to its member”
Fr. Freddy D’Souza, Spiritual Director of Konkan Yuva expressed his satisfaction on KY progress and wished luck to the new committee. KY has been the agent of change, every since KY was formed in 2005, it has brought together over 150 youth from the Konkan Belt residing in Dubai under one umbrella, in last five years many qualitative programs have been initiated for the upbringing of its members and the community. He is very optimist about KY’s direction and looking forward for yet another successful year. He also congratulated the previous core committee members for their selfless dedication and hard work in binding the youth for a common goal - a better future for the community youth in Dubai.

Outgoing President Joel Saldanha thanked all the members for their support and a special thank you note to the sponsor who have been supporting KY since its inception. He also requested the members to extend the same support and co-operation to the new President.

The new body also unanimously elected Ex President Mamtha D’Souza (2007-08) elected as the Club Mentor.
The new team is all set for a dynamic year and has rolled out a exciting line of events in they will be conducting this year including Monthi Fest Celebrations, Sports Tournament, Yuva Fest,  Get-Together, Leadership Training. Apart from this Konkan Yuva will be actively participating in various Parish level programs including Family Fest, Youth Quake, World Youth Day, Spiritual Development, etc.
