Chikkamagaluru, Mar 9: The common assumption about public toilets in India is not flattering. Normally people believe them to be unusable, nauseating spots full of filth. However, toilets in Tarikere town will surprise you as they have attained a facelift and become swanky. These toilets have become colourful and beautiful with different colours.

People who see the public toilets in Tarikere are sure to get shock of their lives. Because they are maintained very clean, and beautiful work of art have figured in the toilet walls.

Tarikere town is proud about the 11 public toilets having changed the image of this sleepy town. Strangers visiting these toilets are sure to come back happy and thankful. The people are happy that their toilets now project a clean, hygienic and sparkling look.

Things were not like this before. People had to block their noses before making use of the toilets or going near them in the past. But Mahantesh, who came as chief officer to the municipality here about a year back, changed everything. He dreamt of converting Tarikere into a beautiful town. His positive-minded plans received united support of engineers and civic workers. With their efforts, the toilets are maintained beautifully. With the clear aim of driving away a sense of inferiority complex the citizens have about the public toilets. Pictures were drawn on the toilet walls. People often click photographs of these toilets before returning to their hometowns.

With the joint efforts of the people, the municipality has won recognition as the cleanest municipality in the entire state. This municipality has been honoured with Open Defecation-free Plus certificate. To realise the Prime Minister's dream of Swachh Bharat, the officials of the municipality are getting full support from the workers. Tarikere deserves to be congratulated for changing the way public toilets are viewed in general.

Let other Districcts, corporations, municipalities follow the suit. It is really appreciated. Hygiene is very very important aspect of our day to day life. Gone were the times of public toilets of the olden days. Cause for all sicknesses. One such spot in Hampankattat, bust stand, behind Bata. Shity place
