Melbourne: MCAV's Annual Winter Dance Celebrations Attract Fun-loving Mangaloreans
Media Release
Melbourne, July 10: A large number of Mangaloreans gathered to celebrate the Annual Winter Dance organized by the Mangalorean Catholic Association of Victoria (MCAV) here, recently. The Annual MCAV Dance has become somewhat of a ritual for the Mangaloreans who call Melbourne home.
What was particularly noteworthy was that over 60% of the gathering in the event was made up of people in teens and early 20s who find that MCAV has a special place for them in every event. After all, one of the three objectives when MCAV was formed was to encourage young people of the community to grow in self-esteem by providing them various opportunities to belong to something they can call their own extended family.
The entertainment for the evening was provided by 'After Glow' - a band made up some very energetic young people. The evening was compered admirably by Stephen D'Souza.
Bert Naik, president welcomed the audience. He brought to the attention of the audience the importance of collective decision-making in today's busy lifestyle, and the benefit one could have in one's career as well in domestic life by excelling in collective decision-making. MCAV provides various opportunities to the members in this critical leadership skill and encourages members, especially the younger people, to join in the committee and grow in confidence.
Since its inception four years ago, MCAV has always been fortunate in having a very reliable committee each year to make the association a success story. Like in the previous events, this special event ran without a hitch due solely to the commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by its committee and many volunteers.
