Bengaluru, Mar 25: Leaders of Mahila Congress and its members staged a protest against the sleaze CD of Ramesh Jarkiholi, the six ministers approaching the court for injunction order and against the remark made by health and medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar, in front of Congress Bhavan on Race Course Road here on Thursday, March 25.
The protest was held under the initiative of Mahila Congress state president Pushpa Amarnath, MLA Lakshmi Hebalkar, Kusuma Shivalli, Soumya Reddy and several leaders took part in the protest.
The protestors holding CDs in hand raised slogans against the BJP government in the state. Later, when the protesters tried to gherao health and medical minister Dr K Sudhakar's office over his statement on the monogamy test, the police officers detained the protest.
Prior to the protest, in a joint press meet by Pushpa Amarnath, MLA Lakshmi Hebalkar, Kusuma Shivalli, Soumya Reddy stated that they raised their voice in assembly to provide justice to the victim.
Pushpa Amarnath said, "Sudhakar insulted 225 MLAs. In his statement, he has included the women MLAs too. He is unfit to become MLA or the minister. He should tender resignation from his position. We will also file a complaint with the chief minister, speaker, and governor. We will also hold protests in front of Sudhakar's residence.
Lakshmi Hebbalkar said that the BJP party which speaks about Lord Ram is making questionable statements. Even in BJP, there are women ministers like Shobha, Roopali, Poornima and Shashikala Jolle. He has insulted women. If Sudhakar has any evidence let him submit it before the court, she said.
Sudhakar also insulted the Hindu nation and the culture, his statements have paved the way to see the women in a bad light. His statements will be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister, Hebbalkar said.
MLA Soumya Reddy said, "When I heard Sudhakar's statement, I was astonished. When a minister speaks such words in a male-dominated society, no one would want to send children into politics."
