Bharat Bandh: Malls, markets, highways to remain shut on Friday

New Delhi, Mar 25 (IANS): The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday said that all shops, malls, markets and commercial establishments will remain shut on Friday in view of its 'Bharat Bandh' call on completion of four months of farmers' protest at Delhi's borders against the Centre's three new farm laws.

According to the SKM, the 12-hour bandh will be observed between 6am and 6pm. However, ambulances and other essential services will be allowed.

The SKM, which has representation from a number of farmer unions, further said that the Bharat Bandh call will be supported by representatives of various farmer organisations, trade unions, student groups, lawyer associations, political parties and state governments.

Alternative routes to Delhi's borders which were opened after other roads to the national capital were closed in the wake of the farmers' protests, will also remain shut during the Bandh, according to the SKM.

Reiterating their demands, the SKM said: "First the three contentious agricultural laws should be repealed, secondly, a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for farmers crops must be given and finally, all the police cases against farmers should be withdrawn. Besides, electricity and pollution bills should be pulled out and the prices of diesel, petrol and gas must be reduced."

They also appealed to all the protesting citizens to peacefully make this Bharat Bandh a success.

"Do not get involved in any kind of unnecessary debate. It is the result of the farmers' patience that the movement has gone on for so long."

Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at the Delhi's borders --- Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur --- for more than four months, demanding the repeal of farm laws.

They have been protesting against the three laws since November 26.

The farmers nation wide bandh failed. Reason :The farmers are wise, they work and earn their living. There was a comment made by an esteemed person here. God has blessed me and Iam thankful am blessed and rich. I have been blessed by God and I have worked hard to achieve richness the rught way. If somebody feels jealous too bad. Doesn't make any difference to me. Whether one is rich or poor it depends on one's mindset. I think veing rich in India is a big sin, sorry. People hate private corporations, like publuc sector loss making units which are made to run with publuc tax funds. I am here to speak about the farmer laws. I see people with legacy of legal knowledge making baseless statements to scrap the farm laws just to showcase their political affiliations. Its a free world and I respect their opinions to scrap things even without studying the facts of farm laws. I have been an advocate practising in high courts and supreme courts for last 40 successful years of my career. I have explained the benefits of the farm laws to our esteemed viewers here. In simple language once again : Gainers are simple small landlords and farmers. Loosers are the brokers. Middle men mandi bazaar. Whom do you want to choose? The brokers to buy your produce or direct Minimum support price plus benefit from the corporate buyers collecting farmers produce fro) ur doorsteps. Lets be logical n practical lets not argue for the sake of arguing. Want to learn more of farm laws call me between 3pm to 5 pm on weekdays and i will be happy to explain in detail, consultation absolutely free at 6369197933

The government is elected by people /citizens. when these people /citizens do not need these new laws new amendments to the farming law, why this government is adamant to implement the new unwanted law???? During elections political parties need common man, common mans votes, after that the government/politicians will ignore the common man and take care of corporate people welfare.

Laws themselves is not a problem here. Its the implementation part !! Once big companies bribe and manipulate our politicians it would be a doomsday for farmers.

My suggestion us simple. What does anyone achieve by strike, old communist mindset. People who call for bandh should pay fir loss of economy caused to people and the government, only then these rogues should be allowed to conduct bandh. We are all open tommorow, nobody is feeding us for free. I own 400 acres of coffee estate in Sakleshpur, 300 acres in Chikmaglur, 300 acres in Madikeri and 700 acres of tea estate in ooty. We are happy with the new farmers laws. It helps a small farmer as well as big agriculturalist. Gainers: Lets understand the practicality. If I own 1 acre of land, the government or private companies come to my doorstep to collect my yield. I neednot invest on a tempi, nor waste my time commuting, nor have to wait to sell my produce at the mandi bazaar. A small farmer is the gainer. A big farmland owner also gains automatically. Loosers: The middlemen brokers, the mandi and the political lobbyists who earn from

This comment is more like telling the whole world how rich you are. Instead please explain the benefits of the 3 laws here in detail and i am sure the readers will understand. Also you should set yp a meeting with the farmer leaders and explain to them as well. I dnt think lakhs of them would have sat on dharna braving the elements and losing so many lives if these laws were actually beneficial.

All are know to dig their own graves at some point of time. Now looks like it is BJPs time. The lessor they think they are demigods, the more deeper the grave. Its time the opposition leave their selfish motives and understand tue pulse of tue people. Tue people are sick and tired of the bjp , but are searching if there ever will be a stronger and convincing opposition.
