Mangaluru, Mar 26: Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP) B M Laxmi Prasad, exhibited good gesture in returning the fine imposed.

There is no provision for imposing fine for a private Omni vehicle (white board) if the driver does not wear the uniform.

It may be recalled that on March 23, a person named Anil Kolpe hailing from Panemangalore was fined Rs 500 by the policemen on highway patrol vehicle at Ramalkatte for not wearing the uniform.

On March 25, his son noticed a police receipt and brought this to the notice of the SP, who was quick enough to respond by promising that he would rectify the issue.

Within no time the fine of Rs 500 was returned to the car owner by Bantwal town ASI at Panemangalore on March 25 at 11:45 pm.

Owner Anil Kolpe and his son have thanked the SP for his prompt response and good gesture.

Double the amount of fine to be given to the innocent victim. Cutting the salary of that irresponsible policeman to be done.

Now a days Highway petrol police stops vehicles . I was stopped at nanthur recently for not wearing mask inside my car while i was driving. They told me to pay Rs.1000 . Son & myself were in the car with A/C "On" I argued with them & asked them to show the notice about wearing mask inside the car even while the A/C is on. I said i will pay the fine in court . Then they left me without saying anything.

Where the "good gesture" of SP comes here? He has just undone the mistake made by a policeman, who wrongly imposed penalty on the driver of a private Omni. if the SP had compensated the driver for the inconvenience caused to him, it would have been a good gesture from his part. The SP just got publicity at the cost of this poor driver, which he does not deserve.

Appreciate the goodwill gesture of SP. Legally it is the right of the victim. SP acted in speedy way to compensate the wrong done by his efficient team. Here request to SP, please educate your police team with "DO and DO NOT" list. Bondel area approx 500 mt. from church, often one team of police chase the two wheelers and stop them mid of the road, even though road is two lane, one lane already parked vehicle, adding to this, police stopped vehicle create road block . This is one I witnessed very often, like that hundreds of spots available.

The amount should be deducted from the salary of the policeman who collected the fine.
