Doha: Rosary Church Nominates Konkani Community Representatives

Doha. Aug 9: The Church of Our Lady of Rosary, Qatar, recently nominated its new Konkani-speaking community representatives for the year 2010-2012. A total ten candidates, as listed below, were nominated with five each from Goa and Karnataka states, to represent the Konkani-speaking community in Qatar.

Vivian D’souza Bondel of the committee has been appointed for the second term as the secretary of the parish council of the church.
Novena in preparation of the Nativity Feast in Konkani will commence on Monday August 30, 2010, at 5.30 pm, with the feast mass slated to be held on September 8, at 5.30 pm. Visiting priest, Fr Santhosh Rodrigues, director of the Family Life Service Centre from the diocese of Mangalore, will be the main preacher during the Novenas. New corn will be blessed and distributed among the community members during the feast mass. Feast celebrations with Novem Jevan will be held at 6 pm on September 9, at the Seraphic Hall. As preparation for the feast, the committee has announced a Konkani hymn singing competition, which will be conducted on September 3 at the church premises. The competition will be held in solo and group categories for the children and the adults separately. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners. The committee has requested the Konkani-speaking community of Qatar to participate in the said competition in large numbers, and take part in the Nativity Feast Novenas and celebrations to honour Mother Mary and seek Her grace.
