Mangalore, Aug 13: The Nagarika Samiti of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, an association of more than 50 social welfare and voluntary organizations including Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Kanara Small Industries Association, Rotary and youth organizations in the district, on Thursday August 12, joined the campaign to sign a mass complaint against the setting up of a toll gate at Panambur on the NH 17.
The Samiti alleged that the damaged city roads and ongoing four lane conversion works on the NH 17 are endangering the life of motorists, especially motorcyclists. Many of them have suffered broken limbs already. They said that the setting up of a toll gate at Panambur and collecting of charges will burden the motorists.
Over 10,000 individual complaint forms were placed at the site of the toll gate at Panambur. Nearly 5,000 forms were signed by the motorists by Thursday afternoon, and will be submitted to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) here in a few days.
