Mumbai, Aug 16: Abhishek Devadiga was adjudged Mr Devadiga and Deepa Devadiga was Miss Devadiga, during the pageant competitions, held during the Independence Day celebrations at Devadiga Bhavan, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, here on Sunday August 15.  It was organized by metro-based Devadiga Sangha.  Over 30 contestants partaken in the competitions. 
 
Meera K Gandhi was the juror presented the crown to the winner Abhishek Devadiga and Deepa Devadiga at the occasion.
 
Journalist Rons Bantwal congratulated the winners and presented mementoes.

Devadiga Sangha president K K Mohandas hoisted the national flag during the Independent Day celebrations held here on Sunday August 15 morning.
 
A blood donation camp was also held at the occasion, besides felicitations of veteran social workers Santhosh and Anita S Shetty couple and Hindumati Namdev Bhagat.
 
Ashma Ratnakar Poojary, a native of Dakshina Kannada (DK) and residing at Chembur, here and topper in the entire Maharastra in the Kannada medium SSC examination held during 2009 -10, was felicitated during the programme. 
 
Metro-published Karnataka Malla, Kannada daily editor Chandrashekar Palettady and social workers Namdev Bhagat and K Bhaskar Rao were the chief guests.
 
Devadiga Sangha former president Gopal Moily, vice president Vasu S Devadiga, joint treasurers Vishwanath B Devadiga and Padmanabha A Devadiga, women wing executive president Prafulla Vasu Devadiga, cultural committee president Jayasree Attavar, wedding committee president K N Devadiga, education committee president Shyam Ramady were present at the occasion.
 
The local hotelier Shyam N Shetty, entrepreneur Ritesh Ashok Trivedi and Haleyangady Devadiga were honoured by the Devadiga Sangh office bearers Janardhan Devadiga and Parameshwar Devadiga.
 
Social workers Namdev Bhagat contributed Rs 1 lac, Meera K Gandhi contributed Rs 50,000 and K N Devadiga contributed Rs 25,000 towards the scholarship fund.
 
Devadiga Sangha advisor Hiriyadka Mohandas welcomed the gathering.  Shyam Ramady proposed vote of thanks.  Ramesh Ullal compered the programme.
